養生概念當道，許多愛美人士每天都要喝上一杯梅精、水果醋飲料，保持身體健康。一名25歲女性，因接觸瑜珈多年，但覺得自己筋骨僵硬，聽同練瑜珈的同學說，喝醋不但可幫助柔軟筋骨，還可幫助調整體質，於是早晚一杯水果醋、常吃醋做成的產品，；沒想到半年後，喝冰水竟牙齒痠痛到掉眼淚，甚至頭痛，不得不求助醫師。

陳學甫，台灣微創植牙醫學會理事醫師說，常有患者喜歡喝醋、梅精、酵素、檸檬汁等「鹼性食物」，但這些飲料、食物的pＨ值都大於７，在口腔內會呈現酸性，會對牙齒造成酸蝕與軟化。

常有許多患者接觸酸的食物而不自知，或對酸的食物有所誤解。這裡所指酸的食物，是單純指pＨ值而言，並非指消化後的產物。酸性食物會造成齒質的酸蝕、軟化，讓牙齒容易敏感，如果汁、碳酸飲料、運動飲料、咖啡、紅酒、醋、檸檬汁等。但由於pＨ值大於７的食物，代謝後有可能產生鹼性的產物，而被營養專家稱為鹼性的食物，這往往讓一般民眾對食物的酸、鹼性產生混淆。所以，當牙齒因飲食變得脆弱時，若再加上不當的潔牙方法傷了牙齒，讓牙本質外露，就容易造成牙齒的敏感。

陳學甫醫師提醒，民眾也不必因噎廢食，而不去食用這些pＨ值大於７的食物，因這些「鹼性食物」確實能夠平衡體內的酸鹼值。只要不讓牙齒長時間浸泡在酸液中，(如將檸檬汁含在口中)，加上食用後馬上大量漱口，稀釋口腔內的酸度（提升pＨ值），等候１５分鐘後再刷牙，就可以降低飲食造成的影響，避免成為敏感性牙齒。
