小孩吃太多糖不只增加蛀牙機率，還會造成肥胖問題。美國心臟協會（American Heart Association）發表最新飲食指南建議，認為2歲以上、18歲以下兒童、青少年，一天額外糖分攝取量不宜超過6茶匙，約30公克，2歲以下嬰幼兒飲食則不宜額外添加糖分。

張斯蘭, 內湖國泰診所營養師, 表示，6茶匙相當於30公克的糖。在美國，額外糖分來源以玉米糖漿為主，但這裡所指的糖，不只是玉米糖漿，所有乳糖、冰糖、紅糖、黑糖、蜂蜜、楓糖等都含括在內。

**就算喝蜂蜜水 也會造成不良影響**

張斯蘭營養師指出，不少家長以為只有玉米糖漿會造成危害，事實上，只要是糖攝取過量，都會增加肥胖風險。部分家長習慣讓小孩喝蜂蜜水，以為這樣很健康，蜂蜜也是糖分的一種，這種做法會讓小孩養成習慣，沒有甜味的水就不喝，若小孩真的想喝有味道的水，可以在水中加點檸檬汁，提升風味。但還是建議讓小孩喝白開水，較為理想。

**吃太多糖 小孩飲食習慣不健康**

美國心臟協會指出，2到18歲兒童、青少年每天額外攝取糖份熱量不宜超過100卡熱量，相當於6茶匙的糖，2歲以下嬰幼兒則不適合額外攝取糖分。文章作者指出，2歲以下的孩子不需要透過含糖飲食、含糖飲料額外攝取空熱量。此外，這年齡的孩子還在發展口味好惡，限制2歲以下小孩吃糖或可避免小孩以後愛上不健康食物。

這項美國心臟協會所發布的聲明已發表於「循環」醫學期刊（Circulation）。許多研究發現，嬰幼兒、兒童攝取過多糖分，可能導致肥胖、高血壓，而肥胖、高血壓都是心臟病重要的風險因子。小孩若吃太多含糖食物，往往就會少吃蔬菜、水果、全穀類、低脂乳製品等健康食物。小孩吃越多糖，健康越容易出狀況，體重過重的孩子一旦攝取過多糖分，出現胰島素阻抗性的風險就會上升，未來很容易演變成第二型糖尿病。
